TaskUs is celebrating its first year of operations in Cali, Colombia and are now gearing already towards finally working in The Arena!

CALI, Colombia (March 27, 2022) — TaskUs (Nasdaq: TASK), a global provider of outsourced digital services and next-generation customer experience to innovative and disruptive companies, is celebrating its first year of operations in Colombia with the opening of its physical office in Cali. The company started its operations in the city in March 2021 on a purely Work@Home setup.

TaskUs is set to unveil its Cali office called “The Arena,” which is inspired by the Caleños’ world-famous passion and enthusiasm for sports, within the first half of the year. The Arena is designed to stimulate, inspire, and embolden the minds of teammates, all while working hard and having fun.  TaskUs has been known for its agile and collaborative work environments across all of its locations globally. The Arena will feature the same world-class workspaces, including recreational areas such as a gym, a cafe, meditation rooms, and game rooms.

“We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate our first year in Colombia and for Us to finally open our ridiculously amazing office,” said Guillermo Ulloa, Vice President of Operations at TaskUs Colombia. “Within this meaningful period of time, we have managed to positively influence Cali, create new job opportunities, and contribute to various social responsibility efforts within the city. We continue to create a world-class employee experience that truly makes TaskUs one of the best places to work in Colombia.”

Attractive employee perks and benefits

In its first year of operations, TaskUs has become a key yet disruptive player in the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector in Colombia through its people-first culture and employee benefits and perks. TaskUs, with its fresh initiatives, has taken a people-focused approach by giving all employees, regardless of position, access to medicina prepagada, dental plans, and life insurance—all with 100% coverage. Each employee can also enlist two beneficiaries who are eligible for up to 50% coverage of the same benefits.

In May 2021, TaskUs launched its program called “The Art of Fluency: The TaskUs Language Academy,” a free virtual program offered to those interested in improving their command of English and are interesting in working in the customer service and care industry. The Language Academy has so far been extended to 11 batches of trainees, and TaskUs has employed multiple young Caleños who have improved their English proficiency through the program.

TaskUs is committed to investing in its employees’ learning and development, upskilling, and career progression. One of its initiatives is “The Academy,” a preparatory and mentorship program for aspiring leaders. The program harnesses the company’s coaching culture to guide employees’ move up the corporate ladder.

To encourage its core value of Continuous Self-Improvement, TaskUs also introduced the Tuition Fee and Professional Development Reimbursement Program which covers part of the costs incurred while furthering education or participating in conferences, certifications, training, and more.

Giving back to the community

TaskUs employees prove that they can work hard and have fun as they recently celebrated TaskUs’ first year of operations in Cali, Colombia.

As part of the company’s commitment to local growth and development, TaskUs has also taken an active participation in the city’s social initiatives. In October 2021, TaskUs volunteers restored one of the city’s most iconic landmarks—the Club San Fernando

TaskUs also joined the Cali Fair last December. The company participated in the Salsódromo Parade, the Desfile de Autos Clásicos y Antiguos (Parade of Classic and Vintage Vehicles), and the Carnaval de Cali Viejo (Old Cali Carnival).

These community and social activities reflect TaskUs’ culture of putting people first and core values of “Inspire Others by Believing in Yourself” and “Be Ridiculously Good.”

“Our vision is to touch the lives of our people, our clients, and our communities by living by our corporate values and growing our footprint in Colombia,” said Ulloa. “This is just a prelude to what we came to do in Cali. We hope to continue expanding these efforts and more in 2022.”

Looking toward the new year

TaskUs continuously offers employment opportunities to Caleños, especially the youth. The company also has plans to increase the number of its Language Academy trainers to accommodate more participants and help develop more job-ready talents capable of providing excellent customer service to international clients.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion have always been central to TaskUs’ culture. As a global company and equal-opportunity employer, TaskUs hires and promotes employees regardless of age, gender identity, or sexual orientation. As of December 31, 2021, women made up 53% of the company’s global workforce and 47% of managers at all levels. This year, the company aims to increase its female leadership hires and internal promotions not just in Colombia but across all TaskUs locations globally.

“Cali gave TaskUs a very warm welcome when we first arrived,” said Ulloa. “It has been a great first year and we look forward to continuously opening more opportunities for the locals and creating a positive impact on the industry and the community.”
