Claudia Walsh shares what it takes to become a ‘Top Lawyer’ in Authority Magazine interview

Published on January 19, 2022

Strong work ethic, adaptability and humility have been the key character traits that contributed to Claudia Walsh’s success in the legal field. In an interview with Authority Magazine, the newly appointed general counsel of TaskUs looks back on her personal and career journeys that led her to become the company’s first female member of the current executive leadership team.

With an illustrious career, having worked as the counsel for tech giants Meta (formerly Facebook), Alphabet, and Google, Walsh said she took advantage of the opportunities she was given over the years.

“The people, places and opportunities that I have encountered throughout my life have made me lucky. Of course, the other half of being lucky is to take advantage of those opportunities with gratitude and hard work. In some ways I think I created more “luck” for myself by taking full advantage of every opportunity that I was given,” she said in the interview.

Mulling on the future of law offices, amidst the limited face-to-face interactions brought about by the pandemic, Walsh is optimistic that networking is still “alive and well,” and through technology, legal roles will be more accessible to people in different locations and from different backgrounds.

“The silver lining of COVID is that greater flexibility in the workplace will open doors to a more diverse legal workforce,” she said. “Networking has definitely changed since the onset of the pandemic, because it’s no longer in person, making it less personal and requiring more proactive efforts. Having said that, it’s much easier to network in this “remote” environment because you don’t have to leave your house!”

In her current position as the general counsel, Walsh sets her sights on immersing herself more with the organization where she can empower and support her team in bringing world-class legal support to the company.

“I’m also very focused on supporting the company’s maturation as a fast-growing, newly-listed public company. Most importantly, I’m thinking about how TaskUs can maintain its ‘startup’ spirit and unique people-first culture as we continue to expand, embrace remote work, and tighten up processes.”
