New Braunfels, Texas – May 22, 2026:  “Trust, Safety and the Internet We Share: Multistakeholder Insights,” the industry’s first book on the critical and vast field of Trust & Safety, is now available. The publication features significant contributions from multiple experts at TaskUs Inc. (Nasdaq: TASK), a leading provider of outsourced digital services that power the companies shaping the future.

TaskUs team members Rachel Lutz Guevara, Jolguer Perez, and Dr. Marlyn Savio (who also served as a co-editor), along with former employees, Dr. Irene Huang and Jean Claffey, contributed two chapters to the publication, which highlights the critical role  business process outsourcers (BPOs) play in the Trust & Safety ecosystem — where human expertise and artificial intelligence (AI) intersect. The edited volume is a project of the Trust & Safety Foundation (TSF) and is published by Taylor & Francis.

Dr. Marlyn Savio, Global Research Manager at TaskUs, who co-edited the book, emphasized the significance of documenting the growing field: “Trust & Safety is a remarkable mission-oriented field, yet very little has been systematically documented about its processes, people and contributions. With this collaborative effort of interdisciplinary experts and stakeholders, we hope to provide not only a better understanding of the field but also lay the path for many such resources that can help build safer, more inclusive online spaces.”

The book is both an informative and provocative overview of online Trust & Safety that will influence how the domain will evolve and stands to guide critical decisions in the field. The book focuses on underrepresented voices, explains how organizations in the field came together, and what lessons they can offer.

“As a psychotherapist and Trust & Safety leader, I am much more comfortable in a therapy session or a board room than I am in front of a blank sheet of paper,” said Rachel Lutz Guevara, DVP of Trust & Safety at TaskUs. “However, writing a chapter with Jean and Leslie on our collective experience of being mental health professionals working in BPOs was an incredible journey. We hope the chapter does justice to the important role BPOs play in the ecosystem of Trust & Safety.”

The chapters further explore how the specialized human expertise within BPOs — which is essential for handling the complex emotional and regulatory aspects of trust and safety — is now being leveraged to shape the next generation of AI. This specialized human-in-the-loop function ensures that the development of autonomous systems remains grounded in ethical standards and real-world human judgment.

Jolguer Perez, Director Global Research and Data at TaskUs, highlighted the critical infrastructure BPOs provide for the future of AI: “While BPOs are traditionally viewed through the lens of operational scale, the frontier of AI has shifted the paradigm. Today, BPOs serve as critical infrastructure for RLHF, acting as the essential bridge where human feedback is structured to align the next generation of AI. We hope these chapters help illustrate that, ultimately, the human-in-the-loop is not a temporary patch, but the definitive anchor for building safer, more intuitive autonomous systems.”

“Trust, Safety and the Internet We Share: Multistakeholder Insights” is a valuable tool for  prospective and current Trust & Safety professionals, AI safety leaders, regulators, non-profits, and researchers seeking to learn from different perspectives. The digital edition will be Open Access and available for free, and physical copies are available for purchase online.
