The Hidden Impact of Misinformation on Moderators

In its latest academic publication in the renowned and highly selective open-access journal PNAS Nexus, the TaskUs Wellness & Resiliency Division of Research examined how repeated exposure to misinformation affects moderators’ belief in false claims. 

The paper, “Accuracy Prompts Protect Professional Content Moderators from the Illusory Truth Effect,” aims to answer an important question: Do professional moderators view repeated content as more accurate? The simple answer unfortunately is yes, but the good news is that the study also found an effective approach to address the problem.

Interventions that promote an accuracy mindset (making decisions based on objective criteria) can help address cognitive bias, improving moderators’ factual discernment and decision-making ability.
